Fall/Winter 2018-2019

The Fall/Winter term starts on Sunday, September 16, 2018.

The general practice schedule for Fall and Winter is:

  • Sunday mornings, 10AM – noon: 50m LC, 4 lanes.
  • Monday and Wednesday mornings, 7:30 – 9 AM: 50m SC, south end.
  • Thursday evenings, 9 – 11 PM: 50m LC, 4 lanes.
  • Friday evenings, 7 – 9 PM: 25 yd.

Each practice is attended by two coaches. Swimmers will be assigned to different lanes according to their speed. Please follow the coaches’ advise and also the practice etiquette rules (http://tmu.ca/pool-etiquette).

There are no practices on statutory holidays as the Athletic Centre is closed. There will be a few more cancellations and changes throughout the term which will be announced through this listserv and on our web site. The same holds true for cancellations and changes due to unforeseen circumstances. Should a practice have to be cancelled on a short notice we will do our best to get an announcement out in time.

Swimming during the Break – August 13 through September 15

Drop-in swims will be held at the AC during this time frame and the anticipated schedule was posted here. On Monday, September 3, the AC closes for Labour Day and no drop-in swims are held on that day.

Also open daily until Labour Day, Monday September 3,  is the D.D. Summerville outdoor pool at 1867 Lakeshore Blvd E (Lakeshore and Woodbine), operated by the City of Toronto. This pool is quite popular with Masters Swimmers and the schedule is available here. Information for all City of Toronto outdoor pools is available here.

Fall/Winter Term 2018/2019

The current Summer term ends with the practice this coming Sunday, August 12, 2018. Starting Monday, August 13, the 50m pool will be closed for maintenance and reopened in September.

Practices are scheduled to resume for the Fall term on Sunday, September 16. If you are not registered for the full 2018/2019 year you must re-register for the Fall/Winter term in order to continue swimming with TMU. The practice schedule for the Fall/Winter term has been updated and is available here.

Full registration for Fall/Winter as well as Thursday night only registration will be offered. The applicable fees are available here.

There will be a break with no practices for Christmas and New Year from December 22, 2018 through January 5, 2019. Furthermore, a number of practices will be cancelled – an updated list is posted here.

Civic Day Weekend – No practices Sunday and Monday

On this coming long weekend the Athletic Centre will be closed from Saturday, August 4 through Monday, August 6. As a result, practices on Sunday, August 5, and Monday, August 6, have been cancelled.

Practice on Friday, August 3, will run as usual and the regular schedule will resume on Tuesday, August 7.

Canada Day Long Weekend – Practices Cancelled

There will be no practices on the upcoming Canada Day long weekend – that is Sunday, July 1, and Monday, July 2.

The Athletic Centre will be closed all day on Monday, July 2, but open with reduced programs on Sunday, July 1.

Enjoy your long weekend – the weather is expected to be nice and all city operated outdoor pools are no open for the season (weather permitting).
